The month of June may feel far away still, but who says you can’t celebrate Pride all year round.

Join us at UMMA on Friday, February 10th, 7-10pm, for the next Feel Good Friday, in combination with our 2nd annual Queer Night. It’s a celebration of love, expression, camp, and acceptance–free and open to everyone (including allies)!

Performers include the multidisciplinary artist, performer, filmmaker and harpist Ahya Simone; the multidisciplinary artist and drag queen Jezebel; and DJs DJ ETTA and THE DARKER SISTA. As part of the Mark Webster Reading Series, there will also be fiction and poetry readings (at 7pm in the Helmut Stern Auditorium) by U-M MFA students Marne Litfin and A. Shaikh.

For anyone else itching to get up on stage, there will also be an open mic session with the U-M Spectrum Center at 8:10pm. Poetry, music, storytelling, and more are all welcome–and anyone can participate, regardless of their experience or background.

A variety of craft-making workshops will round out the evening: letterpress printing, button-making, and zine-making. Come by and express your creative, fabulous self!

If you still have energy after all that, you’ll be welcome to join us for an 18+ afterparty at Necto (must show valid Government I.D. to enter), featuring drag queen Jaida Essence Hall, the winner of season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Bring your Feel Good Friday wristband and you’ll get a discount on the cover charge.

This month’s Feel Good Friday is a collaboration with the Ann Arbor District Library, Detroit Zine Festival, LGBT Detroit, Necto, Stand With Trans, the U-M Library, and the U-M Spectrum Center–with special thanks to the Detroit-based DJ KESSWA, who helped plan performances.

Feel Good Friday

It’s finally Friday and you deserve to feel good!
