Gifts of Art

Thank you for your interest in making a gift of art to UMMA. The Museum has one of the finest university art collections in the country, largely due to the support of many generous donors who have gifted works of art and monetary contributions. 

Every work of art is carefully considered by an internal staff committee. Not all artworks are accepted—only those that are in line with UMMA’s mission, vision, and collecting priorities. 
 
For all gift of art inquiries, please contact umma-giftsofart@umich.edu with the following information:

• The artist(s) name
• The work’s creation date
• Artwork medium
• Artwork dimensions
• At least one high resolution photograph

 
You will then be contacted by a member of our staff and asked to submit a form with additional information. 
 
Please note: 

• Do not bring unsolicited artworks into the museum building.
• To allow sufficient time to process your Gift of Art by the end of the year, we cannot accept any offers submitted after October 1. 
• All gift of art proposals are thoroughly reviewed by a committee to determine if they are an appropriate addition to UMMA’s collection. This review can take up to three months in processing time.
