Kathryn Huss Named UMMA's Interim Director

Kathryn Huss, Deputy Director and Chief Administrative Officer, has been named Interim Director of the University of Michigan Museum of Art, effective Oct 1.

Kathryn Huss, UMMA's Interim Director Her appointment was approved Thursday, Sept. 15, by the University of Michigan Board of Regents. Huss will serve in place of Joseph Rosa, who leaves the university to join the Frye Art Museum in Seattle. 

In making her recommendation, Provost Martha Pollack said, "Kathryn has extensive leadership experience in museum administration at the U-M Museum of Art. I am confident that she will serve the museum and the university well as interim director." 

Huss joined the staff at the Museum of Art in 1997. 

"It is a privilege to serve UMMA and the university in this capacity," Huss says. "UMMA has a great future ahead, following Joe Rosa's leadership."

As Deputy Director and Chief Administrative Officer, she led UMMA's day-to-day administrative functions since 2006. This includes financial management, budgetary development and oversight, human resources, facilities and security operations as well as detailed oversight of the building expansion and renovation. 

Huss has served as a member of the museum’s senior management team since 2010, working closely with Joseph Rosa in all areas of managing the museum. 

Huss received her Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Ohio University.
